I decided to read this book as the idea of land grabbing was something that I had never heard of and seemed worthy of learning more about. Pearce’s story is populated with larger-than-life characters, from financier George Soros and industry tycoon Richard Branson, to Gulf state sheikhs, Russian oligarchs, British barons, and Burmese generals. How could these laws be better enforced?
