The world built is incredible and well-delivered. See 1 question about Clutch…. I loved their iunco together, from the action ones to the more quiet ones. The foul-mouthing is in good sync with who Junco ckutch as a person so it almost becomes a trademark and source of humor.

The two of them together was a lot of fun. But he needs Junco to cooperate just a little bit longer or it all falls apart. It seems like this is the case for some of the other soldiers that she knew.

Because I’m the subject of a multinational, shit, multi-species manhunt, and I’m scared about what’s going to happen and where I’m going to end up? So she does have some excuse for her sour attitude. There are aliens with wings here that are called Avians and a lot of soldiers in this story.

The space element was perfect for me and I think it gets more involved in future books which makes me happy. She’s the teenager who laughs the whole way through a haunted house, complains that it was cheesy, and then has nightmares about it. She can seemingly handle anything, whether it be a plasma fun blast, a nightdog attack, or cluhch out the people you thought were your friends are your enemies and the people you thought were your enemies are your friends.


Did this book have an editor?

The sci-fi elements were well-done, with a sentient house thrown in for good measure. Is it really THAT much like a train wreck? How long can you lie to yourself before it all comes apart?

That’s not my favorite perspective normally, but for this story I was immediately sucked into Junco’s head and her world and held on tight for the ride. There’s quite a bit of disinformation and half-truths being told to Junco by the other characters and it makes the story line confusing as hell through parts, but it does make sense by the end.

The characters were witty and entertaining while the story was interesting and original. You must not have had very much training in human culture if that simple fact mystifies you.
