In the first two, the Tower is a symbol of a knightly quest. He holds true poets of the past in high esteem and is glad that he did not steal poetic glory like the overrated poets of yesteryears.

Does this speak of despair to you? After having read the inspiriation for King’s books I can see how part of the gunslinger se I had pretty much skipped over and forgotten about Robert Browning.

Robert Browning was a British poet and playwright whose mastery of dramatic verse, especially dramatic monologues, made him one of the foremost Victorian poets. I am acquainted with Stephen, and he would not find this ploy acceptable. I have a hard time reading poetry.
