Use the map type in the top left to choose OS Explorer for walking maps, or OS landranger for cycling or driving maps. Capernwray is located conveniently close to Junction 35 on the M6 motorway. Originally destined for the front of the shop as an interesting feature, we decided that this old weapon of an earlier sea-faring age would be much more interesting as an underwater exhibit.
Our most recent wreck and an excellent dive in a quieter part of the quarry. One of the original wrecks at Capernwray and ideally located at the end of the training area. It provides an interesting fresh water alternative to those divers who are more used to the delights of Scottish sea lochs, coastlines and wrecks. Not for novices but the deepest part of the quarry for those who need to log a 20m dive.

Its situation makes it a realistic option for a one-day cwpernwray, and the wide variety of features placed in the water, together with the inquisitive resident fish population make a visit worthwhile. Farleton Fell Walking route: Lies in 18m and marked by a red buoy. Kirkby Lonsdale 3 miles. Built in specifically to clear mines in around harbour capernray during WWII.
She lies on the bottom in 18 metres. The Capernwray Diving Centre, in the north of England, opened in on the site of a former limestone quarry. Christmas offers so many reasons to put on your walking boots and head out into the great outdoors. This was where the original quarry was drained hence its depth in relation to the remainder of the quarry which is normally 18m.
It has alternative access points from slipway, or jetty caperwray there are numerous objects to discover at the various depths, which are stepped at 5,10, 15 and 20 metre intervals, with shallower training platforms. She was scuttled at Capernwray in December and now lies on her side in 18 metres. She then moved to the Civil Aviation Fire School at Stanstead where she was used extensively for crash rescue training techniques.
